Giant Spray Paint Cans - Ripley’s Aquarium (2026)

We were commissioned by Cameron Advertising to build two oversized spray paint cans, one standing 6 ft tall and the other 7 ft tall.

The project started with custom 3D models for the top and bottom portions of each can. The center section was built using flexible plywood with internal wooden reinforcement to create a strong but lightweight structure.

The top and bottom pieces were 3D printed, sanded smooth, and painted before being molded using brush on silicone. The spray nozzles were also 3D printed, finished smooth, and painted to match the client's specifications.

Once the molds were complete, the top and bottom sections were cast in epoxy and reinforced with fiberglass to create durable, weather resistant parts. After casting, the pieces were sanded smooth, primed, and finished with chrome paint. A 2K gloss clear coat was applied to provide additional durability and protection.

The top and bottom sections attach to the center body using heavy duty Velcro. This allows the customer to remove the center panel for easier transportation and storage.

To complete the look, a spilled paint effect was created using acrylic latex paint to give the cans a used, splattered appearance. The graphics and wraps were supplied and printed by Cameron Advertising.

It was great seeing these pieces installed and used in a public setting, with thousands of visitors passing by them throughout the activation.
