The Halo 5 M9 High-Explosive Dual-Purpose grenade (M9-HE-DP) is an accessory that has been in the works for some time. It started as a 3D printed piece with little detail. With the wonderful help of Alexys, we finished up this long over due project. The goal was to have a mold that would be able to cast roto-casted, hollow grenade props. This allows the prop to be sturdy while being light weight for costume use.
We used Mold Star 30 from Smooth-On to mold the grenade. Details were adding on using Apoxie-Sculpt. The grip details are custom washers and screws glued into place. The final grenades were made using Smooth-Cast 45D.
