We had the opportunity to design and build unique centerpieces for a Kijiji Canada event in Vancouver in partnership with Mosaic. The concept was to bring the colourful dots from the Kijiji logo to life in an abstract, sculptural way—while also highlighting the red Canadian maple leaf featured in their branding.
The process began with concept sketches before moving into fabrication. Each piece was built from solid wood spheres of varying sizes, connected using threaded inserts and double-ended bolts for strength and easy assembly. To achieve perfect alignment, we created custom drilling jigs that ensured clean 90-degree holes. Instead of relying on adhesives, we used mechanical fasteners to provide stability while still allowing disassembly.
The maple leaves were hand-cut from solid pine using a scroll saw, then carefully sanded smooth to remove burrs and imperfections. All of the wood elements were primed with custom-matched primers to seal the surfaces before applying brand-accurate paint colours. Each sphere and leaf was finished with a flawless, colour-matched spray coat.
Final assembly involved balancing and attaching each sphere one at a time, ensuring the sculptures were stable and would not tip. Every centerpiece was then packaged individually and shipped safely to Vancouver for the event.
The result was a striking set of branded sculptures that transformed Kijiji’s logo elements into bold, three-dimensional forms—helping bring their identity to life in a memorable and creative way.
