Majora’s Mask Replica V2 (2022)

After the first few production runs of Majora’s Mask, we noticed that most customers were more interested in displaying the mask on their wall than wearing it for cosplay. While people appreciated the paint and finish work, the original version required a large amount of labor, especially the process of attaching each individual horn, which drove up both time and cost.

To make the piece more accessible as a display replica, we developed V2, the wall-hanging edition of Majora’s Mask.

The new version began with a hollow resin cast taken from the original 2017 silicone mold. The horns were attached to the cast and then trimmed down by half. This allowed the entire mask to be produced as a cleaner, faster, and more consistent single piece. Reducing both production time and material usage made it possible to offer the mask at a lower price point while maintaining the same overall quality.

The finishing process was also updated. New airbrush techniques were introduced along with the use of 2K automotive clear coat, giving the surface a durable, high-gloss finish. Each mask was cast using Smooth-Cast 65D rotational resin, keeping the final piece lightweight while still strong.

A nylon rope was cast directly into the back of the mask, and a wall-mount hook was included so the piece could be displayed immediately out of the box.

Packaging was also redesigned for this version. Instead of simple bubble wrap, each mask is now shipped in a custom foam insert inside a box with a built-in carrying handle for protection and ease of transport.

Another addition to the V2 lineup was the Primer Edition, which includes all surface prep and primer work completed, allowing customers to apply their own paint while starting from a professionally prepared base.

We also collaborated with Manic Arts on a special one-of-a-kind Majora’s Mask. As well, we created a featured prize for our annual “Golden Prop” giveaway at Toronto Fan Expo.
