We were asked to create 20 custom PUBG energy drink cans for a commercial, working with artwork from the game developers and labels prepared by Cameron Advertising. The set included 7 clean, 7 battle-worn, and 6 blank cans.
The blank aluminum cans were made so an actor could open and drink from them, requiring them to be food-safe. To avoid glare on camera, all labels were printed with a matte finish.
For the game-accurate cans, we sanded, primed, and painted each one with a matte white base coat. The metallic blue accents were hand-painted with acrylic, but getting a perfect ring on top was tricky. To solve this, we built a foam ring tool that let us spin the cans while applying paint, ensuring a clean, even finish.
This project required precision and creativity, making sure the cans looked great both on set and up close!
