This project began with a massive 3D print created on a Massivit printer, giving us a full-scale, accurate model of the cup. Our job was to take that raw form and turn it into a strong, smooth, weather-resistant display built to survive Canadian winters.
We started with the lid—days of sanding, filling, priming, and detailing. We used epoxy and a Dremel to clean up the lettering and symbols, then sealed the surface with a 2K automotive clear coat for a glossy finish and long-term UV/weather protection. To streamline future production, we created a silicone brush-on mold, allowing us to cast additional lids without repeating the long prep process.
The body of the cup followed a similar path, but required fiberglass reinforcement inside for added strength. The exterior was carefully sanded and prepped to receive a clean, professional vinyl wrap. To protect the base from salt, trimming, and the elements, we fabricated a steel base, painted and wrapped to match.
The entire piece was crated and delivered to a Petro Canada in Keswick, Ontario, where it's still proudly displayed!
