Toronto Raptors x Turbo Tax - Money Egg Statue (2025)

We had the opportunity to partner with the Toronto Raptors and MLSE to create a new rendition of our giant Raptors egg—this time filled with stacks of prop cash. A major consideration for this version was mobility, as the egg needed to be taken apart and reassembled multiple times throughout Scotiabank Arena.

Since replicating real money is not legal, we altered both the size and design. We began with smaller prop bills but scaled up to larger sizes so the details would stand out inside the oversized egg. The stacks were made from 50,000 sheets of real paper, cut to size, glued, pressed, and painted. To enhance realism, we added custom-cut green metallic foil to the front of each stack.

The egg itself was carved from a solid block of Styrofoam using a custom hot-wire tool for clean, even cuts, then refined by rasping to shape. A coat of Sculptamold created a durable shell that mimicked the texture of a dinosaur egg. Watered-down acrylics were applied to highlight crevices and add depth and shading. The egg was mounted onto a solid plywood-and-lumber base with a locking pipe system for secure positioning.

To complete the Jurassic-inspired display, we added adjustable faux plants and foliage, as well as printed styrene posters for durability. The base was designed with color-coded cutouts for easy reassembly and lockable wheels for transport.

After its run at Scotiabank Arena activations, the egg was relocated to the TurboTax office in Toronto, where it remains on display today.
