We had the opportunity to create a custom trophy for Toronto Ultra during the Call of Duty League Major V, celebrating their mascot, Tilt—a tribute to Toronto’s love for squirrels. This project involved 2D concept art, 3D modeling, SLA and FDM 3D printing, gypsum cement, automotive paints, and a giant acrylic diamond to bring the design to life.
The trophy needed to be visually striking and weighty, so Tilt was crafted from solid SLA resin for crisp details and durability. To ensure the diamond topper fit perfectly in Tilt’s hands, we sourced the acrylic piece before finalizing the model, testing the fit with FDM prototypes before moving to final SLA prints.
For the base, we used FDM printing reinforced with internal struts to lock in a concrete mix, preventing spillage and adding weight. Threaded steel rods securely attached Tilt to the base, while gold baroque trim was designed with key placements for precise installation.
Post-processing involved sanding from 220 to 1000 grit, Bondo spot putty for smoothing, and a white enamel base coat. The final look was achieved using HVLP-sprayed automotive gold paint and a high-gloss clear coat, giving it a premium finish.
The finished trophy was showcased on the live stream, presented on stage, and ultimately taken home by the New York Subliners, who clinched the Major V title.
